Hoka Women's Bondi 9
Our Take
The Bondi was the shoe that started it all and is now copied by many. First intended for the long distance runner to give their joints a break, it is now embraced by so many more people looking to lessen the impacts of running or walking or for those looking to lessen foot pain and maintain mobility. And although no shoe will fix an injury, the stiffer midsole and rocker geometry can hopefully lessen pain related to many types of foot problems that affect the heel, toes, nerves, tendons, ligaments and joints of the foot.
So what has changed with the 9th version of the Bondi? Actually quite a bit. Overhauled from top to bottom, Hoka has increased the stack height by 2mm and added a new premium super critical foam midsole to deliver that soft, resilient ride that’s become synonymous with the Bondi. Elevated with a 3D molded collar and structured knit upper with zonal breathability and a more accommodating fit, this ultra-cushioned cult favorite has been finished with Durabrasion rubber to combat high wear zones.
What do we like most about the new update? We found the midsole flare in the Bondi 8 was a bit excessive and we like the fact that this has been streamlined in the Bondi 9. And, despite the increased stack height, the shoe doesn’t feel tall. From the upper to the midsole, the shoe just feels great. We also like the fact that the width offering in the women’s has been expanded to a 2E in select colours. This is a huge win for this shoe!
