New Balance Women's Hierro V8 GTX
Our Take
The intention of the Hierro has always been to cover lots of ground on your trail running adventures (making the Gore-Tex® version a welcome addition to the line) but it is a great shoe for anyone who enjoys a little extra cushioning and comfort. Even better this year is a focus on the environment. The Hierro now has the lowest carbon footprint in the New Balance trail line.
Blending a combination of environmental stability and performance, the newest version uses a Fresh Foam X midsole for ample cushioning and a Vibram Megagrip® outsole with Micro Traction lugs to deliver durable traction on both wet and dry terrain. A slightly extended outsole in the heel area (although less than previous years) provides increased surface area for downhill running and the toe protect will take the sting out of those unwanted toe jams!
