Our Take 

The Brooks Caldera was designed to be a real long haul trail runner with all the protection you need to cover distances up to the 100k plus range.  To cushion your feet for all day comfort, Brooks has used their super plush nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 cushioning in an impressive 39mm/33mm midsole.  Sitting inside the lightly raised sidewalls of the shoe, the Caldera feels surprisingly stable as your roll over the rocks and roots below.  The widened base and split outsole allows the inside and outside of the shoe to work independently from each other for a smooth and stable ride.  The split outsole actually mimics the foot of a mountain goat which we have seen in other shoes like the Hoka Speedgoat. Overall, and after taking a break from the Caldera 6, we are really happy with the overall feel of the new Caldera 7.
