Our Take 

It has been a few years since we have seen an update to the Speedgoat Mid, with the last one being the second version.  Jumping ahead three plus years, we now have a version 5 that mirrors the trail runner with the same name.  

The new Speedgoat 5 GTX Mid has been redesigned from top to bottom with the most noticeable improvements being less weight, more traction and a much superior fit.  What does stay the same is the rocker profile that Hoka wearers are use to.  From the hard core multi-day through hiker to the weekend hiker, the Speedgoat 5 Mid GTX is a versatile trail hiker for anyone wanting a little more cushioning and protection and a hiking shoe that feels more like a runner than it does a hiker.
